The normal Lacrosse recruiting process does not fit well for student athletes seeking an engineering degree let alone an education from a top twenty institution. Highly ranked Engineering Colleges and Universities are becoming more selective in their admission requirements and are looking at a more holistic process. They examine criteria such as number of completed AP classes, high end performance in Math and Science, ACT and SAT Math scores for example along with academic rigor on your transcript. With these you have up until the end of your junior year to prove this. Visibility in Lacrosse camps, the urge to commit early all work counter to the criteria for acceptance to a highly ranked Engineering School.
More often than not many student athletes find that they have relatively poor choices come December their senior year. Usually they have strong Lacrosse options at schools whose academic strength is not in their chosen Engineering field or settle for a lesser established engineering program so they can play varsity lacrosse.
What to do? Pursue a parallel path to get all the information that is right for you! Select top engineering programs and contact the Lacrosse staff there, explore the options available. Do this in ADDITION to following the traditional Lacrosse club-tournament method. Reach out directly and Explore!
